mix01: Small Pyramids

This year I'm going to start sharing mixes from people I like. Some will come from djs; while others may come from musicians or producers or both. I may even throw in a chef or two. The point is - all mixes will come from forward thinking artists I respect and admire. Sounds nice, right?

If you're a regular reader of the blog, my first guest should come as no surprise. Really diggin' this mix of new hits, a few old ones and even some originals from a super talented dude who's been featured on here before; Small Pyramids.

Pleasure Chest Mix / Small Pyramids

The Revenge - Just Be Good to Me feat. Danielle Moore

$9.99

Here's a fun little number from 1987. More of a quirky italo/euorbeat sound on this one. The first minute is pretty hot. Can't tell you much about the artist U.K. - I've got this on a ZYX Heart Italo Disco comp.

Copies of this 12" release are going for close to $100 US. Who's paying that out there?! This whole vinyl, dj, producer, blogger scene we exist in can at times, be very, very strange.

Confusion and weird situations.

I busted out my copy of Oliver Stone's The Doors this past Sunday. How good is that movie?! So of course watching the film got me thinking about their music. The next thing you know, The Ghost Song is on repeat for a day. I know this will sound super snobbish, but there are only soo many Doors songs I can enjoy nowadays. The Ghost Song is one of those songs. I dug up the longer vesion. Actually, the song itself isn't any longer or different; it's more of a hidden ending after about 30 seconds of dead air at the end of the track. I've also included a short interview with Mr Morrison. It's about one minute and it is awesome.

The Ghost Song / Jim Morrison & Music By The Doors (YSI) - expired.

Interview, Stockholm / Jim Morrison (YSI) - expired.

Who's got the Heavy Disco version of this? On my wishlist now.

A great, dark man.

I ripped this track late last year and completely forgot about it. Thank you Tigersushi for re-releasing this in 2002 and thank you Joakim for giving us the Supa Edit.

No G.D.M. (Supa Edit) / Gina X (YSI) - expired.
